Accurate Weighing Scales Alert

The Department of Health has issued an alert to Hospitals, GP Surgeries and Nursing Homes to check that the weighing scales they use are accurate, legal and fit for purpose. This comes after it emerged that in February, inaccurate scales were used to weigh a 4-year old cancer patient to calculate her radiation dose. Fortunately, the error was picked up in time.

It goes without saying that the accuracy of weighing in a clinical environment is crucial and that all weighing scales used within this setting should be checked by mid-June.

D M Wood Medical offer a range of scales, which are Class III and IV approved and are therefore suitable for a clinical setting. The classes are detailed under the product descriptions.

Our most commonly approved Scales are the Seca 761 (Pip Code 633800).
