DM Wood Medical Ltd is the appointed distributor for Evac+Chair in Scotland. In addition to supplying the chair we provide Operator Training courses to assist your employees or colleagues to undertake the role of Dedicated Escort of the mobility impaired*.

* The mobility- impaired person may be a work colleague or a member of the public who has a pre-existing mobility impairment, who becomes ill or sustains an injury during an evacuation.

By the end of the course the trainee will understand what is required of the Dedicated Escort. He/she will be capable of carrying out their duties in a safe and timely manner. This will involve the transportation of the occupant of the Evac+Chair to safety in the event of an emergency.

The trainee will demonstrate his/her practical skills by carrying out a simulated evacuation procedure. This will include the correct use of the Evac+Chair.

The tutor will assess the trainee as he/she carries out the following –

The trainee prepares the Evac+Chair for use. He/she will be required to ensure the subject is secured into the chair, transport him/her across the floor to the staircase and then descend at least one flight of stairs.

A checklist will be used to assess competency at all stages of the operation.

All trainees who wish to become approved Evac+Chair Operators must meet the standards set by Evac+Chair International.

DM Wood Medical as sole Scottish distributor for Evac+Chair International will issue Certificates of Competence to each student who reaches the required standard.
